One of my favorite childhood memories is a family vacation to Florida. It was the first time I had ever seen the ocean, let alone swam in it.

My brother and I ran straight into the waves. We laughed, we played, we let the water carry us. It felt like freedom.

And then I heard my mom yelling.

Frantically.

We turned and realized we weren’t where we thought we were. Without noticing it, we had drifted way down the shoreline. What felt like harmless fun had quietly carried us farther than we ever intended to go.

That’s how drift works.

And if we’re honest, that’s often how life with God feels in certain seasons, not rebellious, not resistant, just unintentional.

That’s why the author of Hebrews gently reminds us to “pay much closer attention…lest we drift away…” (Hebrews 2:1, ESV).

Not as a warning to shame us, but as an invitation to stay close.

What if this summer could be more than a break?

Summer changes our rhythm in the best ways. There’s space to breathe. Time to slow down. Margin we don’t normally have.

And what if that margin isn’t just something to enjoy, but something God wants to use?

What if this became a season where your faith doesn’t just hold steady–but quietly deepens?

Not through pressure. Not through busyness.
But through presence.

Unhurried mornings with Jesus.
Walks that turn into prayer.
Moments where you simply become more aware of God in your everyday life.

What if rest actually moved you closer to God?

Rest is a gift from God, not a distraction from Him.

Throughout Scripture, we see that God doesn’t just command work; He also commands rest. Why? Because rest has a way of re-centering our hearts on what matters most.

So take the trip. Sit by the water. Laugh with your family.
Enjoy it fully.

And as you do, invite God into it.

Talk with Him. Thank Him. Notice Him.

You may find that some of your most meaningful moments with God don’t happen in the rush, but in the quiet.

What if God wants to use you right where you are?

Summer also creates space for something powerful: presence with people.

More time with your kids.
More opportunities with neighbors.
More margin for conversations that matter.

And those moments are often where God works most.

In Ephesians 5:15-16, we’re encouraged to “look carefully then how you walk…making the best use of the time…”

Not because every moment needs to be maximized–but because every moment can be meaningful.

A conversation.
An invitation.
A simple act of care.

These are often the ways God moves.

At CrossPoint, we say we are ordinary people being changed by Jesus to do extraordinary things.

And often, those “extraordinary things” don’t happen in big, dramatic moments, but in small, faithful ones.

So as you step into summer, here’s the invitation:

Stay close to Jesus.
Receive rest as a gift.
Be present with the people around you.
And stay open to what God might want to do.

Because this summer may be more than you expect.

It might just be a season where God meets you in fresh ways and works through you in ways that matter for eternity.
